This thematic review examines the transformative role of mobile technology in addressing food distribution and accessibility challenges in rural Nigeria. Despite the country's rich agricultural potential, rural communities face persistent food insecurity due to poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and limited market access. Mobile technology, through applications such as mobile advisory services, e-commerce platforms, and digital financial tools, has emerged as a critical enabler of supply chain efficiency, market access, and sustainable agricultural practices. Drawing on literature from 2015 onwards, this review highlights the successes of initiatives like mFarms, Nigeria's e-wallet system, and Digital Green, which have improved farmers' incomes, reduced post-harvest losses, and empowered marginalized groups. However, barriers such as digital literacy gaps, poor connectivity, and infrastructural deficits remain significant obstacles. The review concludes with policy recommendations, including investments in rural infrastructure, digital literacy programs, and regulatory reforms, to fully harness the potential of mobile technology for sustainable food systems and rural development.Downloads
